MARRADONG & SADDLEBACK LTE PROGRAM

SOUTH 32 - WORSLEY ALUMINA PROJECT

Value Added:

Linkforce delivered a superior technical solution on this project by creating a concept which minimised the outage time required near the ROM crusher. This was achieved by developing underground conduit protective solutions comprising of concrete and pre-fabricated interlocking metalpipes with flanges, while still adhering to client site specifications. In addition to this, significant cost savings were enabled for the client through our development of an alternative above ground cabling solution which avoided trenching through granite in remote areas.

Linkforce also delivered cost savings on this package by reducing the volume of new staff required to complete this project. This was achieved by executing large portions of the scope with integrated services enabling key multi-skilled personnel to deliver numerous portions of scope. Services self-performed included; rigging, technical, civil, electrical, on-site welding and fabrication. Where self-perform delivery was not an option, Linkforce successfully arranged and managed all 3rd party contractors including; operators, crane suppliers, concrete and all other project materials.

This project was executed by experienced and competent Linkforce leadership teams who ensured zero harm to personnel and the environment throughout the duration of these works.

Linkforce was engaged by South 32 and Optus/Huawei for the Worsley Alumina LTE Project, to execute a number of different work scopes;

Greenfield Structure installation - 40m Monopole

The scope for these works contained significant rock breaking to allow the 40m structure, complete with public and private network headframes, to be erected. In conjunction with these extensive civil works 400m of electrical infrastructure was required to provide power, coupled with 400m of fully supplied, installed, spliced and tested fiber transmission cable to reach the crusher.

Brownfield Upgrades and Tower Strengthening Operations

This portion included the supply and installation of tower strengthening steel for three of the existing lattice towers, infrastructure upgrades to existing transfer stations and the supply and installation of new upgraded earth grid systems to four existing lattice towers to meet engineer requirements.

LTE Installation and Commissioning

The scope for this portion of works included the installation and commissioning of LTE antenna systems across eight sites, spanning 70kms.

Electrical

Electrical upgrades were also successfully completed to seven existing and new sites to cater for new LTE equipment. This included scopes such as a new Site Main Switch Board to cater for six stakeholders including DFES / WAPOL / Telstra / Optus / S32 / St John, existing switchboard reconfiguration and design in smaller equipment rooms, design, supply and installation transfer boards complete with 3-way change- over switch for a generator inlet.
