FMG CHRISTMAS CREEK
The Challenge
Linkforce were engaged to remove and replace the trommels and discharge chutes on OPF 1 which had reached the end of their service life and were deteriorating quickly.
Three days prior to the planned shutdown, trommel A was shut down and deemed inoperable due to significant cracking which was threatening structural integrity.
Our Solution
Linkforce, in conjunction with McLanahan & FMG, constructed a clear path forward after the compromised trommel structure could no longer be lifted as per manufactures specifications.
Linkforce were able to source the right skilled and experienced labour to complete the project within the original schedule as well as supply fabricated items that were needed due to changes in scope and methodology.
We successfully completed simultaneous operations in a busy screen house which was also undergoing major works during the shutdown. Communication between other work groups and within our own team were paramount while coordinating lifts with two cranes running simultaneously.
Linkforce were able to adapt to the last-minute changes in scope, build technical solutions to challenges as they arose and leverage our internal integrations and regional offerings, such as Fabrication capabilities in Newman and Karratha, to provide timely, flexibly results.
In addition to this, there was minimal punch listing required once the trommels had been returned to service and they have been running without issue to date. The project was completed safely, injury and incident free.
